About

Type of work: Illustration

One of my early experiments with digital matte‑painting, this illustration diverges from the conventional styles I’d been seeing. I combined two unexpected elements—a deserted Old West town and an erupting volcano—to create a striking contrast. The sense of desolation is embodied by a lone child cowboy and his horse, set against the dramatic volcanic backdrop.

Although the piece came together quickly, it was especially rewarding: it was featured in d’artiste - Matte Painting 3, the esteemed matte‑painting magazine published periodically by Ballistic.
