About

Type of work: Matte Painting

This is a fully digital matte painting depicting a crucial moment from the biblical story of Moses, where the Egyptian army of Ramses II charges at full gallop across the exposed seabed of the Red Sea, while the miraculous parted waters remain held back in the distant background. I had to paint and pre-composite both the dramatic ground terrain of the dried ocean floor and the foreboding sky above. Additional atmospheric elements such as dynamic cloud movement and dramatic lightning strikes were incorporated during the final compositing phase to enhance the scene's epic and supernatural atmosphere.
