Type of work: Matte Painting
For this shot, I was responsible for extending the existing set of a fictional medieval town. The creative process was enjoyable as I researched original reference material and designed an urban environment that appears to grow vertically in endless layers, creating a sense of infinite architectural expansion.
The primary challenge involved harmonizing numerous reference photographs of building facades and rooftops, each captured under different lighting conditions, and unifying them beneath a single, cohesive lighting scheme. This required careful color correction and atmospheric perspective work to ensure visual consistency. Where photographic references weren't sufficient, I resorted to traditional digital painting techniques, working by hand to create custom architectural details and ensure the entire composition felt organic and believable.
